How to make the best Crockpot Dishes for a family on the move
If your household is anything like mine, busy with small children, then you can understand that there are times when you do not feel like making those four course meals your family love (ok, I never made a four course meal, but you know what I mean).
The
crockpot has been a huge timesaver in our home. My family is able to get a
wholesome meal and I am not on my feet for hours trying to prepare something
for them. I am also a working mom, so having the crockpot is one of the best
things money can buy! Here is one of my recipes for families on the go.
This is
my Pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwiches recipe. For this recipe, you will need the
following ingredients:
1 lb of
sliced chicken breast
2 tbl
spoons of seasoning salt
1 tbl
spoon of pepper
2 tbl
spoons of minced onions
1 garlic
clove
1 tbl
spoon of parsley flakes
1 bottle
of BBQ Sauce
1 cup of
water
1 bag of
hamburger buns
I will be
honest and say that I really do not use measuring spoons and cups; I pour my
ingredients according to how it tastes for me. I have used these measurements
in the past; however, it is my personal preference to add as much or little of
each as I like.
Side
note: You will season your meat front to back for flavor. I have noticed
through trial and error that the more water you add to your crockpot, the less
flavor your meat will have.
Place
your cup of water in the crockpot and add the temperature to high heat (or
whatever your high temp is) this allows the meat to cook in 4 hours. If you
want it to cook overnight or while you are away at work, low heat will do just
fine.
Once the
water is warm, you can add your seasoned meat and cook until its done.
You will
know it’s finished when the meat pulls apart and is very tender.
Add your
BBQ Sauce and your meal is ready.
This is a
simple dish that I know your family will love. You may want to tweak it for
your liking, you can add what you want or leave it as is, either way it’s quick
and easy!
