Family Trip to D.C.
Winning this lottery was almost as great as winning a monetary lottery!....Well almost. We were so shocked and it was so unbelievable. I remember telling co-workers that I was taking PTO to go to the White House and they laughed in my face with the statement, "that's a good one Tish." I mean you hear about people going to the White House, but you never really know someone who has gone to the White House.
Anyway, as we embarked on our journey, we had so much to see in so little time. One event that we fell upon was the Cherry Blossom Festival. For those of you who have never attended, I suggest that you do.

After frolicking with the trees and some minor site seeing, we finally made it to our hotel, The Famous Washington Hilton. We found out from one of our tour guides that this was the same Hotel the Reagan Assassination attempt took place. Despite it's dark past, this hotel was splendid. The views were awesome, the food was tasty and the stay was so relaxing. I really did not want to leave my bed. One of the best parts about this trip, I got to meet Ms. Phaedra Parks from Real Housewives of Atlanta and we were staying at the same hotel!
There were so many restuarants to choose from, it took us an hour before we all agreed on something. We decided to dine at Wok and Roll. Located in the heart of Chinatown Washington DC, they combine Chinese, Japanese cultures to make some very hearty dishes. They use market-fresh, high-end organic ingredients from their authentic Chinese culinary, extensive sushi bar menu and a variety of cold or warm Sake. Here are some of the dishes we had:
We were able to see historic places and buildings. My son participated in the Easter Egg Roll! What a historic moment and to do it under the Obama Administration made it all worth it!
There was so much that a weekend is not enough to capture everything. I would definitely suggest making a week of this trip.
All in all, we had a magnificent time. I was able to expose my son to some history and culture (which is different from AZ, another blog for that one). This is a trip I would definitely do again and this time, I will be sure to make more time to explore the District of Columbia and all it has to offer.
